2nd Sunday of Lent

It was so good and so sweet to be surrounded by God today.  I felt the embraces and heard about many of the things he had been doing this week.  I saw the compassion of Jesus in the eyes and the words and the touch of my church family.  My God is alive and beautiful!  We sang with him, listened to him, and then he put food in front of us…more than we needed and sweeter than we deserved.  There were treats for our tongues and food for our souls today.  I think I was hungrier than I realized.

Before bed, the kids turned off all the lights again.  One of our 7 candles was already snuffed out from last week, 6 were lit.  We read 1 John 1:5-10 again this Sunday because we are trying to memorize it as a family.

This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.  If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.  If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Then we snuffed out a second candle, remembering the darkness of the week we are about to enter.  Time to check our armor and be ready.  We march and fight with a Victorious Captain and do not need to be afraid in the attacks of this week.
